Meet the instructors

Ob-Gyn, Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecologist and Co-Founder of Girlology

Melisa Holmes, MD, FACOG

Dr. Melisa is a Pediatric and Adolecent Ob-Gyn, and Co-Founder of Girlology– the leading Girls’ health app providing grade-by-grade parenting resources and health coaching to prepare girls for puberty, and navigate adolescence with confidence. Dr. Melisa’s passion for patient advocacy has led her to receive a national award from the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists for patient education. Holding more than two decades of experience as an academic ob-gyn with expertise in pediatric and adolescent gynecology, Dr. Melisa serves as an educator for medical students, residents and colleagues. She has authored five books for youth on puberty and sex ed, with her most recent book in 2022 published by the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is a co-founder of the Period Education Project, a national non-profit organization that trains medical students to deliver menstrual health education to under-resourced communities. Dr. Melisa earned her MD at the Medical College of Georgia and completed her residency at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Trish Hutchison, MD, FAAP

Dr Trish is a board-certified pediatrician, and Co-Founder of Girlology– the leading Girls’ health app providing grade-by-grade parenting resources and health coaching to prepare girls for puberty, and navigate adolescence with confidence. As an expert on adolescent development, teen sexuality, and parenting, Dr. Trish has been listed among the Best Doctors in America. She founded and directed a young women’s health center for the Department of Adolescent Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Trish has authored books for youth of puberty and sexual development - her most recent book has been published by the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2022. Additionally, she is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Period Education Project, a national non-profit organization that trains medical students to deliver menstrual health education to under-resourced and under-privileged communities. Dr. Trish earned her MD at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) then went on to complete her Pediatrics residency at Vanderbilt University.
